Innovative Coal Forum

Hard coal mines can also be extremely useful in a modern economy based on innovative solutions in commerce. Technologies which allow substances used in the chemical industry to be obtained from coal are being developed all over the world; more importantly, this is taking place in an environmentally friendly manner.

The Industrial Development Agency is aware of the opportunity offered by modern coal technology for the Polish mining sector; this is why it has initiated the process of obtaining innovative know-how in order to implement technologies obtained in this manner in our mining industry. The Innovative Coal Forum, run by the Katowice Branch of the IDA, was established in agreement with the Central Mining Institute and the Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal. The results of activities of the Innovative Coal Forum should translate into increased use of coal domestically and thus development of the mining and chemical sectors in Poland.
